Into the worm's hole
Rating: 2 of 5 stars
Series book: Yes Will I read the Next: Maybe I just wanna throw a chair. And not in a good way. I was expecting a lot more from this book. More action from the rebel attacks. More romance. More to be explained about Illea. What did I get? A couple of gunshots and messages on the walls from the rebels, a cheaty non-romance from America and Maxon, and a whole lot of disappointment. *Hour long sigh* Maybe it was just me getting bored, but I found the writing a lot less engaging than the last book. To be honest I skipped a paragraph or two here and there and it didn't even matter. You could skip pages and nothing would have changed. That's a problem. Can you say slow? And boring? And fluffy as hell. The plot was so boring. Other than the end(and I do mean like the last thirty pages) and a few places here and there, it was so fluffy you could take a nap on it. The whole thing was about America and her insecurities with a few sprinkles of serious story progression. Stop. Try again next time in book number three. Very few of these characters were ever really developed. It could pass in the first book because it leaves more space for the world building. These characters have no depth. And don't even get me started on Aspen. I hate him sooo much. The characters were too underdeveloped to get into. Major love triangle alert! *Cue movie voice* America must choose. The prince or the guard. Maxon or Aspen. New love or first love. I think you get my point. The thing is in the first part of the book you think she picks maxon...but then she keeps cheating. I hate cheaters! And why with Aspen? He's a total jerk who complains about how good he has it and doesn't believe America can do anything but make music. He's not worth the risk! But then Macon gets a all cheaty after saying how long he would wait for her. Yeah a week later he's making out with Celeste and saying "Sometimes I just need to have a little fun" And America is okay with that! Question for America! Exactly how high are you? Claps for you for being a pushover... SUMMARY OF REVIEW(In case you don't actually feel like reading the review): Writing: 2.5 out of 5 Plot: 2.5 out of 5 characters: 2 out of 5 Romance: 1 out of 5 Overall: 2 out of 5 PG-Violence, Kissing, Making out
